TMSS Medical College Journal (TMCJ) follows the guidelines and principles of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors — ICMJE (www.icmje.org) and the COPE (www.publicationethics.org). Papers are accepted for publication with an understanding that they are submitted solely to the journal of 'TMSS Medical College Journal' and are subject to peer review and editorial revision. The statement, views and opinions expressed in the articles are those of the author(s) and are not necessarily those of the editor or publisher.
- a Article must be within 5 years of research work.
- b Authors of research work should be of relevant fields.
- c Manuscript must be in English. Use Times New Roman 11 sized font.
- d Type manuscripts double-spaced, on a good quality A4 sized paper, including references, figures with legends and tables on one side of the page only.
- e Leave a margin of 05 cm on all sides of the page. Beginning with abstract page, all the pages (including pages containing tables, figures and references) will contain page numbers at the lower right-hand corner.
- f Cite each reference in text in numerical order and list in the reference section.
- g Begin each component of the manuscript with a new page in the sequence of: (i) Title page with author information, (ii) Abstract page, (iii) Text, (iv) References, (v) Tables, (vi) Figures with legends.
- h Present the text in the sequence of Introduction, Methods & Materials, Results and Discussion.
- i Use SI units of measurements (for blood pressure use mm of Hg).
- j Define Statistical methods in method section of the paper.
- k Use standard abbreviations, the full forms of which should precede in its first use in the text.
- l As a general rule, articles should not exceed 10–12 pages. Too much large volume manuscripts will not be accepted for publication.
With two copies of manuscript (hard copy) directly or by courier or postal services to Editor-in-chief, TMSS Medical College Journal and/or a soft copy of Manuscript (MS Word) must be sent to editortmcjournal@gmail.com with scanned copy of all desired documents.
Article must be accompanied by a covering letter, signed by all authors, containing statements that:
- They are the only authors and the article represents original work.
- The manuscript has not been published elsewhere, accepted for publication elsewhere or under editorial review for publication elsewhere.
- All copyright ownership will be transferred to the publishers of TMCJ once the article is accepted for publication.
- They declare the manuscript is plagiarism free.
- Authors agree not to withdraw their manuscript at any stage prior to publication.
- Acknowledgements, Conflicts of interest & Funding are clearly mentioned, if any.
In case of multiple authors, need an author contribution certificate (or statement) about specific contribution of each author in the study and the manuscript has been seen and approved as well as the order of authors in the manuscript.
Author must submit a copy of clearance certificate from an Institutional Ethical Review Board (IERB) or Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethical Committee or from any authorized body along with the manuscript & mention the memo number within bracket in the methodology section while describing ethical issues.
- a Full title of the article not exceeding 50 characters with three to five key words for use as indexing terms and as running title for use on top of the text pages.
- b Author's names, highest academic degree, affiliations, and complete address for correspondence including Telephone/Mobile number, and e-mail address.
- a Do not cite references in the abstract. Be concise (250 words, maximum).
- b Limit use of acronyms and abbreviations. Abbreviations must be defined at the first mention.
- c The abstract should be a total of about 250 words maximum. Abstract should cover: Background and Purpose (rationale for study); Methods (brief description); Results (significant results); and Conclusion (succinct statement of data interpretation) in separate headings.
- a Introduction: Summarize the rationale for the study with pertinent references. The purpose(s) of the study should be clearly stated.
- b Materials and Methods: Identify type of study and describe the study subjects and methods used. Provide methods of statistical analysis. Cite reference(s) for standard study and statistical methods. Describe new or modified methods. Identify apparatus (with name and address of manufacturer). Generic names of drugs must be given. Manuscripts describing studies on humans must indicate study approval by an Institutional Ethical Committee and that subjects gave informed consent.
- c Results: Present only important results/observations in logical sequence in the text, tables or illustrations with relevant statistics.
- d Discussion: Emphasize new and important results and the conclusions that follow including implications and limitations. Relate observations to other relevant studies.
- e References: References must be listed following the Vancouver style. Numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text as superscript number. Number of references should be kept below 40 except review article. All authors must be listed if less than six. Use et al. if more.
- f Tables & Figures: Should be placed within the text. Number consecutively in the order of first citation. Tables should not duplicate the text. Avoid internal horizontal & vertical rules. Total number of tables & figures must not exceed 10.
